Abstract:
Recognizing human resources as a critical asset, this research focuses on the relationship between employee job satisfaction and job performance within the Jaffna Zonal Education Office in Sri Lanka. The primary objective is to identify key determinants of job satisfaction and evaluate their impact on performance outcomes. Data were collected from employees using questionnaires as the primary source followed by a random sampling technique. Statistical tools such as correlation and regression analysis were applied to assess level relationships and impact. Findings revealed that a majority of employees reported high levels of satisfaction across the selected factors, particularly in terms of pay and working conditions. Correlation analysis highlighted a positive relationship between each satisfaction factor and job performance. Specifically, fair pay systems, equitable promotion opportunities, effective reward mechanisms, and favorable working conditions significantly contribute to enhanced employee performance. The results supported the hypothesis that job satisfaction has a positive impact on job performance, while negative and null hypotheses were rejected. The study concluded that improving employee satisfaction is essential for achieving higher productivity and organizational performance. It recommended that management focus on strengthening satisfaction-related initiatives to retain a motivated and well-engaged workforce. Overall, the research highlights the importance of fostering a supportive work environment to enhance both employee well-being and institutional performance.
