Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to find out the contribution of community based structured or
community-based organizations in village development. This was done to find out how community-based structure to become the community participants. Also, this paper further
describes the details of community become focal point in all development activities in village level with total number of community-based organization and its importance to village development through fully participation. Aim of this component as community-based structures is to enhance the institutional, planning and implementing capacity of inclusive community-based village communities composed of main stakeholders in each village. The objective of this study is to justify how community-based organizations effective contribution to villages’ development with absolute participation of community. Community based organization include representatives of farmers organization, women’s societies, youth groups, religious leaders, disable people organizations, producer group, funeral death welfare societies, school development society and rural development society. This paper has studied as case study in selected 04 GN divisions in Vavuniya district. There are about 24 villages included in 04 GN as Asikulam, Kaartharsinnakulam, Maharambaikulam, and Kanthapuram GN division. Case study was done by analyzing 10 community-based organizations in mentioned 04 GNs. This village committee has ensured that the implementing all project actions are community driven, inclusive vulnerable groups, relevant and sustainable. Most of the village communities-based organizations are facing similar challenges, inter-community communication, and coordination and information exchange. A tool suggested overcoming from these challenges as inter community network to share ideas, successes and failures. Found out that there was an entire village development is depending on community participation and their contribution. Strength of CBOs in selected villages is not in satisfactory level and which leads to poor degree of development.
