Abstract:
In construction project management, effective communication is essential, especially in
dynamic and complicated settings like the Sri Lankan construction industry. This study
investigates how successful decision-making among project managers in Sri Lankan
construction projects is facilitated by project communication techniques. The Port City
Project, Lotus Tower Project, Bingiriya Export Processing Zone, Wayamba University
Township Project, and Mattala International Airport are among the major infrastructure
projects that are examined in this study, which uses a qualitative research methodology. To have a thorough grasp of communication dynamics, data collecting involves conducting in depth interviews with team members and project managers in addition to document analysis. Thematic analysis is used to evaluate communication-related issues, determine the most effective channels and methods for communication, and create plans to improve the effectiveness of decision-making. According to preliminary research, collaborative meetings, organized reporting systems, and digital communication tools greatly improve decision making. However, the study also identifies important obstacles that prevent successful communication, such as linguistic limitations, cultural differences, and a lack of widespread acceptance of technology. The study suggests a strategy framework to improve decision making results by enhancing communication techniques in order to solve these issues. The study's conclusions add to the corpus of knowledge already available on project communication in construction management and offer useful advice to stakeholders in the sector. The suggested framework seeks to enhance project efficiency, reduce risks, and facilitate the successful completion of major infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka by improving communication tactics
