dc.description.abstract Information or knowledge is power, which is today considered to be a basic resource for national development. In the information era, possession and dissemination of information plays a significant role in the sphere of academic environment in which it improves educational standard and quality of research. Job satisfaction is the attitude towards the job as a whole. Many people work today not because work offers any pleasure, but there is no other way of earning for a living. Job satisfaction is in regard to one’s feelings or state of mind regarding the nature of their work. This study was mainly designed to evaluate whether the job satisfaction positively influence the attitude of the Teacher Librarians and to identify the impact of the Teacher Librarians’ attitude on career development of the System of the Ministry of Education in the Government Schools. The sample of hundred teacher librarians of Northern Province Government schools was selected for this study using stratified random sampling method. Data were collected by administering questionnaire developed by the researcher. The questionnaire structure was based on Likert’s scale and open ended questions. The correlation, regression and ANOVA analysis were applied through SPSS software package. It is disclosed that there is a positive but moderate correlation between job satisfaction and the attitude of the teacher librarians. It can be concluded that a high level of job satisfaction of teacher librarians positively influences the attitude of the teacher librarians and which lead to show the positive impact of the Teacher Librarians’ attitude on career development. The current study is aimed at evaluating the effect of job satisfaction positively influence the attitude of the Teacher Librarians. The findings show that it is worthwhile to study how those variables operate in other types of libraries available in Sri Lanka such as public libraries, special libraries. en_US
