dc.description.abstract It is skeptical that electronically administered environment (e-learning) replaces the conventional method of teachings and learning among postgraduate students. Though it depended on multiple factors. Preliminary results suggest the partial dependency on the type of evaluation system. We tested the learning traits which are inherit in the postgraduate education environment. The methodology comprises the questionnaire survey comprises technical questions to reveal the learning traits in the stratified group of postgraduate students enrolled at Colombo University of Sri Lanka. The same respondents were administered for three different questionnaires at two-month gap to eliminate biases due to externalities. Though the question concept was kept same, the way questions written in the questionnaire were paraphrased to reflect the same meaning to ensure the reliable response from postgraduates. Data was initially cleaned up for the erroneous and outrageous inputs before simple regression technique was used to reveal existing learning traits among the respondents. Results suggested for the dependency on various factors as their preference of learning system. It was highly concerned for the practical applicability of skills inherited in e-learning environment. This may be due to as far as self-study was given high priority, it tends to skew more towards the e-learning system comparing the traditional methods. It was found that these recessive characters remain popular among postgraduates and inherited in the student community. It is concluded for the mixed learning environment which has considerable time for traditional learning methods with controlled administration of electronic tools may enhance the overall learning while preventing the overdose by e-earning. en_US
